What is Codeless Testing?

Codeless testing is the process of creating automated tests without needing to write any code. This process is usually done with the aid of a recorder that captures your actions and makes them available for playback. Codeless solutions are often commercial products, although open source options such as Selenium IDE are available.

Question

What is better, coded or codeless automated testing?

Many software engineers prefer to write code as they trust themselves to write well-designed structured code. Some however are looking to save time – and studies show that test maintenance is directly related to the number of lines of code. Codeless solutions often have helpful features that save maintenance time such as element repositories, reusable test steps, ability to insert code, and of course – the ability to integrate with visual testing solutions. The answer here is there is no right or wrong answer – it’s what is best for you.
