Running Tests

After recording a test, Preflight runs it automatically. However, you can run any or all tests on-demand and define which settings to use to run them.

This topic describes how to:

Running a Single Test

By default, tests are run using global defaults, and any settings you have defined on a per test basis.

To Run a Single Test with Default and Test Settings

  1. In the Navigation bar, select Tests.
  2. Locate your test in the All Tests page or by opening a group from the Groups menu.
  3. Hover over the three dots on the right of the test and click Run Test. The test is run with the settings defined for this test.

Running Selected Tests

By default, tests are run using global defaults, and any settings you have defined on a per test basis.

To Run Selected Tests with Default and Test Settings

  1. In the Navigation bar, select Tests.
  2. Locate your tests in the All Tests page or by opening a group from the Groups menu.
  3. Select the checkboxes next to the tests you want to run.
  4. Click Run Selected Tests. The tests are run with the settings defined for those tests.

Running All Tests

By default, tests are run using global defaults, and any settings you have defined on a per test basis.

To Run All Tests with Default and Test Settings

  1. In the Navigation bar, select Tests.
  2. Either remain in the All Tests page or run all tests in a group by opening it from the Groups menu.
  3. Click Run All/Group Tests. The tests are run with the settings defined for those tests.

Running Tests with Custom Settings

By default, tests are run using global defaults, and any settings you have defined on a per test basis. You can run tests for one run only with different settings for the environment and run mode. This does not permanently override the global defaults or the tests' settings.

To Run Tests with Custom Settings

  1. In the Navigation bar, select Tests.
  2. Locate your test(s) in the All Tests page or by opening a group from the Groups menu.
  3. Select the checkboxes next to the tests you want to run, or don't select any tests to run all tests.
  4. Click the arrow next to RunAll/Selected Tests and select Run All/Selected Tests with Custom Settings.
    A pop-up appears showing the available settings that can be defined for this run only.

  5. Define the following fields:

    • Environment - the default is to use the test's environment, but you can select a different environment from the list.

    • Run mode - choose between Normal mode which records all screen shotsa and Quick which runs the test without recording screen shots, to run the test in less time.

  6. Click Run All/Selected Tests Now to run the tests with the selected settings.

Running Tests with Global Defaults

By default, tests are run using global defaults, and any settings you have defined on a per test basis. You can run tests for one run only with only the global defaults, thus overriding any settings that were defined for a particular test. This does not permanantly override the tests' settings.

To Run Tests with Global Defaults Only

  1. In the Navigation bar, select Tests.
  2. Locate your test(s) in the All Tests page or by opening a group from the Groups menu.
  3. Select the checkboxes next to the tests you want to run, or don't select any tests to run all tests.
  4. Click the arrow next to Run /All Selected Tests and select Run All/Selected Tests with Global Defaults.
  5. Click Confirm.

Running Failed Tests

To Run Failed Tests

  1. In the Navigation bar, select Tests.
  2. Click the Run Activity tab. A list of test results appears, displayed in chronological order, with the last run test displayed first.
  3. Locate a test that has failed and click on it to open it. You can use the Status column to sort the list according to status.
  4. Click Run Failed Tests.
  5. Click Confirm. The test(s) are run.
