Testing PDFs

Preflight enables you to test PDFs in your web app, and supports the following actions:

• Viewing PDFs in the Current Tab
• Viewing PDFs in a New Tab
• Viewing a Single PDF in an iframe
• Viewing Multiple PDFs in iframes
• Downloading PDFs

Prerequisites

To test PDFs, Preflight requires access to URLs.

To Grant Access to URLs

1. In Chrome, click the extensions icon, and then click Manage Extensions.
2. Navigate to Preflight Recorder and click Details.
3. Scroll down to Allow access to file URLs and toggle it to on.

Viewing PDFs in the Current Tab

To View PDFs in the Current Tab

1. Open the Preflight Recorder extension and start recording.
2. Open the PDF in the current tab.
3. Optionally, add a textual checkpoint to test specific text, or a visual checkpoint to test the entire page and ensure that specific images appear.
4. Click Finish Test.

Viewing PDFs in a New Tab

To View PDFs in a New Tab

1. Open the Preflight Recorder extension and start recording.
2. Open the PDF in a new tab.
3. Optionally, add a textual checkpoint to test specific text, or a visual checkpoint to test the entire page and ensure that specific images appear.
4. Click Finish Test.

Viewing a Single PDF in an iframe

To View a Single PDF in an iframe

1. Open the Preflight Recorder extension and start recording.
2. Open the PDF in an iframe.
3. Optionally, add a textual checkpoint to test specific text, or a visual checkpoint to test the entire page and ensure that specific images appear.
4. Click Finish Test.

Viewing Multiple PDFs in iframes

To View Multiple PDFs in iframes

1. Open the Preflight Recorder extension and start recording.
2. Open the PDFs in multiple iframes.
3. Optionally, add a textual checkpoint to test specific text, or a visual checkpoint to test the entire page and ensure that specific images appear.
4. Click Finish Test.

Downloading PDFs

To Download PDFs

1. Open the Preflight Recorder extension and start recording.
2. Download the PDF. Preflight automatically detects the file.
3. Click the PDF icon in the recorder to display the downloaded PDF.
4. Optionally, add a textual checkpoint to test specific text, or a visual checkpoint to test the entire page and ensure that specific images appear.
5. Click Finish Test.
